The 2026 Maltese National Individual Time Trial and Road Race Championships produced an outstanding set of results for Bike it Up Racing. Across both championship events, our riders consistently finished immediately behind Malta’s professional riders, delivering one of the strongest overall team performances of the championships.
Elite Time Trial: 3rd, 4th and 5th
The National Individual Time Trial saw John Camilleri lead the way for Bike it Up Racing with an impressive 3rd-place finish in the Elite category.
Just six seconds later, Daniel Briffa crossed the line in 4th, with Jacob Schembri completing the team’s dominant performance in 5th.
With professional riders Aidan Buttigieg and Andrea Mifsud taking the top positions, Bike it Up Racing’s three amateur riders claimed 3rd, 4th and 5th overall, a great result that underlined the competitiveness of the team.
The championship also saw strong performances across the club in different age groups, with David Cushing taking 2nd place in the Masters 50+ category, while Carl Xerri delivered an impressive top-10 Elite finish although on a road bike.

Elite Road Race: 3rd and 4th
The National Road Race Championships brought another excellent result for the team.
John Camilleri once again finished on the Elite podium, securing 3rd place, while Carl Xerri followed in 4th.
Once again, with the professional riders ahead, Bike it Up Racing’s amateur riders occupied 3rd and 4th place in the Elite National Championship, demonstrating that the team is capable of going head-to-head with Malta’s professional-level competition. Shoutout to Jacob Schembri who led the way almost the whole race but suffered a mechanical a few laps from the finish.
There was further national championship success for the club, with David Cushing becoming the Masters 50+ National Champion. Pierre Borg finished runner-up in the Masters 40+ category, while Lindsey Pirotta secured 2nd place in the Ladies’ category.
